Play For All!

Taylor Road Park Site Plan

On January 15th, 2019, the City of Huntsville provided an interim draft site plan for Cove residents to review. The history of this project, to date, is described in a blog post.

Draft Site Plan – January 15, 2019. Click for larger image.

Following feedback from citizens and the CUP committee, the site plan has been updated. It features a recreation center, a 15,000 sq ft play area, two full-size (360’x160′) multi-purpose athletic fields, a walking path, and approximately 150 parking spaces. Drainage will be installed underground to maximize the amount of space devoted to sports and recreational activities. The updated site plan is very efficient and comprehensive!

The site plan must be approved by the LCE Subcommittee of the Planning Commission (4/17 @7:30am), Full Planning Commission (4/23 @5pm),  and finally City Council (4/25 or 5/9 @6pm) to begin construction. All meetings are public and citizens may attend to voice support or concerns.

New Park and Recreation Center in the Cove!

As announced at the City Council Meeting on Sept 27, 2018 the City of Huntsville has acquired ~10 acres of land on Taylor Rd between Valley Cove Dr and Frankford Dr on which they plan to build a much anticipated recreation center.  Multipurpose sports fields and a playground are also shown on the site plan.

GrowCove hosted a meeting on 10/22 to discuss the details with the community. Recap here.
