SUMMARY:Big Picture - Small Area Planning Meeting #2
DESCRIPTION:In March\, the City of Huntsville\, in coordination with GrowCove\, held the first of several public meetings to gather input for a Cove Small Area Plan. Around 100 people attended the meeting\, and more than 660 responded to an online survey posted afterwards. Based on the results from the meeting and survey\, we would like to gather more input to answer questions such as: What will future growth in the Cove look like? What projects and initiatives should we prioritize?\n \nJoin us on June 19th at 6PM at Goldsmith Schiffman Elementary School (1210 Taylor Rd. SE) in the Cafeteria\, where we will have interactive exercises that will help answer these questions. We will also have opportunities to receive comments related to other issues within the study area. \nWe hope to see everyone on the 19th!

SUMMARY:KICKOFF EVENT - BIG PICTURE PLANNING - COVE
DESCRIPTION:Join The BIG Picture planning team as we kick off the next series of neighborhood planning sessions—this time\, in the Cove area of East Huntsville. We’ll be looking at life after the Cecil Ashburn closure; the road’s reopening will only add to the development opportunities in an area that is already one of the fastest-growing in the City. How do we accommodate this growth while maintaining a high quality of life in the Cove? How do we make the Cove a more cohesive community? \nThe kickoff meeting will be held on March 5th at 6PM in the Hampton Cove Elementary School cafeteria (261 Old Hwy. 431 SE). This event is free and open to the public. We will have interactive exercises for residents to tell us what the challenges and opportunities are for the Cove area. The results of this exercise\, plus other opportunities for input over the next year\, will guide the creation of a Small Area Plan for the Cove. \nSmall Area Plans (SAPs) utilize the principles of the BIG Picture and apply them to the various neighborhoods and opportunity sites throughout Huntsville. They are fully created from public input. To date\, SAPs have been created for areas such as Ditto Landing\, the former Johnson High School site\, the Sandra Moon Complex\, and the Medical District neighborhood. Another SAP for Five Points and Northeast Huntsville is nearing completion.
